The custom Yaesu Go Box by 3C Ham Shack is built into a rugged Apache 4800 case, designed for reliability in any environment. It houses a Yaesu FT-891 HF radio and a Yaesu FTM-510, all powered by an internal battery system that’s fully compatible with solar panel charging—making it the perfect portable solution for both everyday operation and emergency communications.

I received my Go-Box on Monday — a full week earlier than the projected ship date and just in time for Thanksgiving. I held off on writing a review until I had a chance to really use it, and now that I have… here we go.

1. Customer Service:
The owner, Chuck, was extremely helpful and quick to answer the questions I had before it arrived. Great communication goes a long way.

2. Build Quality:
The construction of the Go-Box absolutely blew me away. I took the top apart to see how it was built, and the first impression was amazing. Everything inside is secure, all the wiring is properly labeled, and everything is neatly fastened and organized. You can tell a lot of care went into putting this together.

Field Test:
Fast-forward to today (Thanksgiving). I just wrapped up an early POTA activation before the big turkey lunch. It started a little slow getting contacts, but it picked up quickly. The Go-Box performed exactly the way it was supposed to — zero issues. I ran about a 3-hour activation on the internal battery and could’ve kept going, but I was cold… and hungry.

Bottom Line:
If you’re on the fence about getting a Go-Box, stop now and pull the trigger. You will not be disappointed.

I’m a newly licensed ham and was looking for a setup that would be easy to learn on. After researching several different radios and setups, I quickly became overwhelmed and confused. A friend of mine had one of these G90 go-box kits and let me try it out at a park. I was hooked instantly! I ordered one for myself and have had it for about two months now, and I couldn’t be happier. I use it both in my shack and for POTA activations.
